Week 1 Asian 35+ Division Season 2

This post is brought to you by Farmers Insurance Group

Welcome back to all the returning teams and players, and Welcome to all the new teams and players.  We had two great games (two teams had a BYE), so lets get to it!

Nimisis vs Legends
Nimisis has some new faces on their team hoping and Legends kept their key players choosing to build on their experience and chemistry.  It was a slow start with both teams playing defense well and showing a little rust on offense from the time off.  Armondo for Nimisis controlled the boards with Jason and Marlon scoring most of the points in the first half.  Joel and Sonny for Legends sparked the offence early keeping the game in striking distance.  Froilan and Joseph took charge for Nimisis in the second half creating easy buckets on the break but Dindo and Roden answered back with key defensive plays that lead to crucial buckets down the stretch.  With 4 seconds left and Legends up by one, Joseph for Nimisis had a chance to win the game but Roden made a great defensive play to save the win for Legends.

Joyful Smiles vs Code Black
Joyful Smiles picked up new and exciting athletic players while Code Black managed to keep their core players for the second season.  Both teams had a short bench, Joyful Smiles playing with 6 players and Code Green playing with 5 players.  The first two quarters was a blur of layups for Code Black.  Doc dished out easy points to Nik and Yonas resulting in a 20+ lead by the end of the first half.  Joyful Smiles sharp shooter, Edgar, was off this night but Mel and Bernard kept them in the game.  Richie for Joyful smiles got hot in the third quarter hitting two threes with Mel and Bernard continuing there good play through the second half of the game to cut the lead to single digits.  Code Black was obviously exhausted from their fast start, but Doc and Tony connected for open threes and Nik controlled the boards and had a few big blocks down the stretch to lead Cod Black to their first win of the season.

Week 6 D League Summary Season 2

This Post is brought to you by Farmers Insurance

It was an odd Sunday with a blow out, a late game start come back win, a canceled game and an amazing battle between two elite teams to cap the evening... let's get to it!

Meier Co vs Spartans

A much anticipated match between two strong teams; one young and super talented and the other a mix of veteran players with a high basketball IQ.  The Spartans were playing without their fearless floor leader Alonzo but the Spartans are still a very deep team.  Meier Co had a size advantage and went to their mismatches early.  Ralph, Chris and Eddie were fed the ball early in the offense and went to the line frequently in the first half.  The  Spartans were still in the ball game throughout the first half.  Armand, Sergio and Eric shot the ball and rebounded well enough to keep the ball game in striking distance.  By the second half Meier Co's lead grew.  Meier Co's Dwight, Mike and Donald lead the charge in the 4th quarter to their fourth win and the Spartans first loss of the season.

Omaha Night Hawks vs Bula

Last call for Bula!... Last call for Bula!  Seven minutes into the first quarter two Bula players showed in time before the ten minute forfeit rule came into play.  Team Captain VJ and James steps into the gym and quickly put on their shoes and slip on their uniforms.  The Omaha Night Hawks were happy to see a 14 point lead on the score board but they know that Bula is a great team.  Omaha Night Hawk's Aaron looked to control the pace by slowing the game down but Bula's, Vince, had other plans.  Vince and Ryan for Bula took off running at every opportunity and quickly chipped away at the lead.  Derek and Darren for Omaha did there best to answer back point for point but Jesse for Bula made it hard for them to score in the paint.  By the second half, Bula managed to take the lead and didn't look back.  VJ took control of the game and Bula pulled away for their fourth win of the season.

ATR vs Dragon

The Defending Champions were looking to reclaim their dominance against the hungry Dragons.  The Dragons had a tough loss last week and were looking to prove that game was behind them.  The game started out slow because both teams were playing excellent defense, but mid way through the second quarter both teams started to find their groove.  ATR's Jun and Jon dominated the paint with Christian pulling up for short jumpers from the top of the key.  Rob and Hervin for the Dragons served up dimes to Michael, Daryll and the sharp shooting Joey for easy buckets.  Both teams played beautiful basketball and it the game came down to the wire.  The Dragons pulled out a narrow win over the Champs for their second win of the season.

SEABA (South East Asia Basketball Association) Sports is a U2SP Basketball sibling.  SEABA serves as an upper division or Semi Professional Division that we are working hard to develop here in the Bay Area.  Chris Del Rosario and Nik Bautista are the Directors of this Division. SEABA Sports is currently running a Tuesday night league at Chabot College.  Thus far the games are very competitive and the skill level of the athletes are high.  I am excited about SEABA.
As previously mentioned a few post ago, we will be merging some teams from SEABA into the D League on Sundays by the 3rd season of U2SP Basketball, not only to bring in better competition for everyone but to eventually have two Divisions on Sunday, SEABA and a "TRUE" D League, by the 4th Season of U2SP Basketball.
Our basketball community is growing steadily and responsibly.  We only hope that you all enjoy what we are building together as a community and globally.
Thank you all for the opportunity to serve you and for all of your consideration...

Here is a SEABA Sport video... Enjoy!

Week 5 D League Season 2 Summary

Week 5 was had many breakout and statement games from individual athletes and from teams.  We had a few blowouts and a game that came down to the wire.  All and all it was an outstanding day for U2SP Basketball!  Let's get to it!

Filipinas vs Bula
This was a much anticipated game filled with great individual match ups.  Bula's VJ, Ryan and Vince were looking to continue their great play and Filipinas's Jonver, Pao and Christopher were looking to continue their 3 game winning streak.  In Bula fashion Vince got out of the gate fast.  Elmer and Jonver kept the game under control for most of the first quarter with Pao and Christopher finishing most of the plays in the paint.  Bula's rookie Sean controlled the boards and quickly got the ball out to VJ or Vince for easy buckets.  By the second half Bula quickly took the game over by creating turnovers and controlling the boards. VJ took the game over and Vince continued to keep the game at a blurs pace.  Pao and Elmer did all they can to keep the game close but Bula built a insurmountable lead that to come back from.  Bula are back in the winning column and Filipinas suffered their first loss of the season.

Omaha Night Hawks vs the New Team
Omaha Night Hawks has the pieces to be a good team and they were looking to get their first win of the season against the New Team which consist of new players that are learning how to play together.  Omaha Night Hawks got off to a great start with Aaron and Derek leading the way for their team early.  The New Team's Vinh, Chris and Rodel soon got hot and converted on many easy buckets and started to get hot from the perimeter.  The game was close up to the second half where Andy and Vinh started to control the boards and Rodel hitting shots from behind the arc.  Darren and Aaron did their best to keep the game close but costly turnovers proved to be difficult to overcome.  The New Team got their first win of the season.  Congratulations!

Dragons vs Spartans
Spartans came off of an impressive win over Bula with Armand did an amazing defensive job on Bula's leading scorer VJ.  Dragon's lost a close game against Primetime last week and were looking to get back on the winning track.  Spartans from the tip looked to push the ball every chance they got.  Sergio, Armand and Alonzo got the Spartans out running early.  Rob and Hervin for the Dragons kept the game in striking distance in the first half of the game.   The Spartans were running on all cylinders and took off in the second half led by Armand and Alonzo.  Joey for the dragons hit a few threes but he lead was too large to overcome.  Spartans are now 4-0.  Congratulations!

Primetime vs Meier Co

This is the game of the week!  I can't say enough about both of these teams. Meier Co had a great start with Mike and Dwight leading there team to an early lead.  Alex's scoring and Lanny's rebounds kept Primetime within striking distance.  And then the fourth quarter happened.  Meier Co had an 8 point lead going into the fourth quarter but they new that Primetime was going to unleash their signature press.  And press they did.  The fourth quarter speaks for itself.  Primetime came back to win!  What a great game.
