Week 6 Asian 35+ 6' and Under

Joyful Smile vs NoyP-Forex

Unfortunately we did not have video equipment to record this great game!  Joyful Smile's, Edgar, came out firing.  Greg and Rich joined in on the party and helped to get out in front early.  NoyP-Forex was lead by Mike V. and Lito to keep the game close and in striking distance.  Lonnie controlled the boards while Bobby and Voltair connected for easy buckets.  Edgar continued his hot hand well through the 4th quarter but Mike V. put on his cape and tied the game and eventually scored the go ahead points to lead his team to a win.  NoyP-Forex has the second best record at 4-2.  Congratulations!

Bula vs Nimisis

1st quarterBula has yet lost a game this season.  Their size and teamwork is the key to their success early on in the season and they have rode that wave into this game.  Nimisis had been missing their star player Rydell for the last game but Jonathan and Froilan has been carrying the team on their backs.  From the ball toss Bula jumped out in front.  They controlled the boards and created easy buckets in transition.  Nimisis was not going to go out without a fight and got a big game from Froilan and Rydell to keep the game within reach but Gus and Lito for Bula proved to be too much and extended their lead in the 4th quarter to lead their team to another win.  Bula is now 6-0!

Code Black vs Legends
                                                                                                           1 Quarter
Code Black has yet won a game this season but most of their games have been close.  Legends were looking to kick them while they were down and continue to position themselves for the Playoffs.  Legends controlled most of the game led by Dindo and Joel.  Code Black actually played well but shot a low percentage through the 3rd quarter.  And it happened... something clicked and Code Black let the dogs out and played suffocating defense to cut a double digit lead to 2 with .6 seconds left.  Justin C. for Code Black in bounded the the ball at half court and threw a lob pass to Nik S. for the tie and sent the game to overtime.  Warren and Tony for Code Black sealed the the win for Code Blacks first win of the season!

2nd Quarter
Unfortunately we did not capture most of the exciting action in the 4 quarter due video complications.  We apologize.  Go to up2speedsportschannel  to watch the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Asian 35+ 6' and Under 10/12 Game Break Down

Welcome back everyone!  Two weeks of byes can seem like an eternity I know.  It was good to see everyone back.  The rust did not show at all and we got great performances from individuals and team play.  Here is how the evening went...

Bula vs Code Black

Bula was missing a few key players in Renee and Gus and Code Black tried to take advantage of that.  Code Black got out early with great defense and good execution on the offensive end.  Chris for Code Black finally got to come out and play and we would like to thank his wife for that!  Code Black had a 14 point lead heading into the second half.  And then it happened... James for Bula stole the ball from Warren for Code Black.  James had an open layup and Warren fouled him hard.  Warren was given a flagrant 2 and was ejected from game.  From that point on an avalanche of shots and great plays came from every Bula player.  James and Richie woke up and hit thees from everywhere.  Reyland and Sam crashed the boards.  And Robert sealed the deal with his leadership on the floor.  A great game from Bula!  This is the game of the week!  Sorry for missing the 4th quarter.  The game was so exciting that our video person forgot to press record!

Legends vs NoyP-Forex

What a match up!  We are all excited to watch this game... Kobe, a gun slinger vs Mike V., an assassin... what more can you ask for?  The game started out slow but Fred for NoyP-Forex got it going early hitting 3 threes in the first half.  Kobe kept the game close for the Legends and Joel controlled the boards and chipped in with tough shots from the inside.  Dindo for the Legends got it going in the second half of the game but Lito for NoyP-Forex proved to be too much for the Legends to handle scoring 8 points in the second half to seal the win for NoyP-Forex!  This game was a contender for game of the week!

Joyful Smiles vs Nimisis

Nimisis was missing a few key players but Joyful Smiles didn't care!  LOL!  Edgar for Joyful Smiles made sure that his team got off to a good start and they did.  Erwin matched Edgar's energy point for point as Nimisis kept the game close throughout the whole game.  The game was fast, fun and furious.  Jonathan for Nimisis had a great game scoring in and out but Erwin had the breakout game of the night for his team.  The combination of Edgar and Abe took its toll on Nimisis at the closing minutes of the game and Joyful Smiles pulled out a close win.  Great game!

October 9 Championship Weekend

The sun shined down on us on a warm Sunday afternoon on our first D League Championship Weekend.  I can't believe that we made it this far... but we are here and we had great match ups on today's menu.

Special Guests

ATR vs Primetime

Mad crazy first game!  It is no secret what Primetime brings; SPEED, TEAMWORK and PRIMETIME PRESSURE!  ATR does not hide the fact that they have a speed deficit but they for sure will make up for what they lack with their size and tremendous post presence.  Primetime came into the game with a full bench and Primetime Coach, Elco, was going to use everyone on it today.  ATR only had six players to work so they had to make sure that no one fouled out of the game.  The game started out hot with both teams trying to establish their tempo.  ATR came out and executed their post game early and got out to an early lead.  It was clear what ATR was going to do but Primetime was running with a full tank and ran on every opportunity to answer back.  Alex for Primetime took the liberty to take a few rebounds coast to coast it for a couple of buckets.  Marlowe and Colin followed suit with threes and open mid range jumpers.  ATR stuck to their game plan and fed Jun, William and Jon in the left post to get key Primetime players into foul trouble.  Christian, Deejay and Corey complemented the post game by making open perimeter shots and easy transition layups.  ATR's Jon was ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior and put ATR's chances of going to the Finals in jeopardy.  But ATR kept to their game plan and built a double digit lead.  Primetime's Marlowe picked up quick fouls and unfortunately fouled out of the game.  Colin for Primetime stepped up and went on an 11 point run on his own to close the lead to 4.  Primetime's Alex cut the lead to two points and turned up  the pressure on ATR.  ATR's Deejay called a timeout to get the his team refocused.  In the closing minutes ATR's Jun grabbed an offensive rebound and scored.  Alex had a chance to tie the ball game with a three pointer bit the ball rimmed out.  What a ball game! ATR pulled out a win and got a ticket to the Finals!

Spartans vs Dragons

Spartans was entering the Dragons lair for the second semi final game of the day.  Dragons are made up of Superstar and experienced players so they were not going to overlook the Spartans not one bit.  Spartans looked like a small Army of special forces with Bong and Drexler, team captains, orchestrating a dangerous mission to win the Championship. From jump street the Spartans tried to take advantage of every opportunity and ran, ran, ran the ball.  The Dragons responded by taking advantage of their great half court pick and roll plays.  Rob, Joey and Hervin set up Daryll and Mike for beautiful looks at the basket.  The game was tight through the 3rd quarter when Masato caught fire!  Masato literally went "John Rambo" and scored most of the Spartans points in the fourth quarter.  Joey and Hervin for the Dragons shot well from the perimeter to keep the game close.  Daryll and Mike controlled the boards for the Dragons and went to the line to several times but could not  make all of their free throws.  In the end Spartans came out of the Dragons lair victorious and advanced to the Finals.

ATR vs Spartans

Watching both teams warm up I did not get the sense of any nerves.  Both teams seemed calm and relaxed. After a hilarious player introductions it got real serious as the players stepped onto the court.  Once the ball bounced on the floor the nerves started to show as both teams on several sequences turned the ball over 4 four times consecutively.  Once the smoke of nerves cleared ATR established their game plan "FEED the POST".  ATR took advantage of their size and fed Jun, William and Jon for easy buckets.  Jun got going early and went to the line to convert a couple of three point plays to get ATR in front early.  The Spartan's Alonzo pushed the pace for the Spartans to try to get his team running like a pack of wild mustangs.  Nav and Drexler converted on tough layups and floaters up the middle. Masato had a hard time getting into the flow of the game but Armand picked up the slack offensively.  Allen for ATR did not play in their first Semi Final game but contributed in this game with a few big threes and defensive stops.  Christian shared the responsibility with Allen to try to slow down the Spartans pace and executing their game plan.  Spartans went on a run led by Alonzo but ATR's size and trips to the free throw line proved to be too much as ATR's lead grew to double digits.

ATR are this Season 1's D League Champions!  Congratulations!  The Private Award Ceremony will be held a Salo Salo restaurant our Official Sponsors.  We will post footage of that soon.

D League Season 1 Quarter Finals

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you very much for an amazing weekend!  Great match ups and great support from family and friends was a cocktail made in heaven.  The energy was high and the anticipation for this weekend was unbearable.  We did something special this past Sunday for you all.  We did a short documentary of what goes on at U2SP on Sundays.  It is has three parts... enjoy each one.

(+1 this post if you like it... Thanks)

We also did a special Video Scrapbook for all you... enjoy
Elite vs Primetime
Out of the gate it was a race to the finish.  Alex Martin was out with an injury but Primetime made sure that they had a full clip because that is what they needed to stop Elite.  Colin got off to an early start hitting a couple of threes and EJ got easy buckets with Marlowe at the helm leading the charge.  Marlowe is looking healthier with each game and seem to be peaking at the right time.  John and Ban kept Elite in the game for the first half with Joven and Chris chipping in with great plays and timely points.  The game was close up to the third quarter when Anthony for Primetime caught fire.  He was everywhere and doing everything to break the game open.  Primetime built a 12 point lead after the third quarter.  Colin kept the hot hand for Primetime but Donald and Drew for Elite answered back to get the lead down to 6 with under two minutes left in the game.  John for Elite made some key buckets to cut the lead down to three.  Nik and Drew for Elite had the opportunity to tie the game up but Anthony and Marlowe took over the game in the closing minutes.  Elite's John had the chance with 4 seconds left to tie the game with a three but the shot was short. Congratulations to Primetime for making it to the Semi Finals.

Elite 46 John S. 14 pt, 6 rb, 2 ast

Bula vs Spartans                                                                                        Part 1
Another early great match up for the day. Bula was going to stick with what got them to the playoff; tough defense and controlling the boards.  Spartans was not shy about their advantage, SPEED!  From the tip Alonzo scored the first point of the game to set the tone for the rest of the game for the Spartans.  Masoto and Armand joined in on the party to push the pace and score easy buckets.  Bula's VJ and Vince kept up with  the Spartans combo guards with Sam and Julian on the boards.  Nav and Drexel for the Spartans came into the game to inject more speed but Jan Jan and Christian for Bula accepted the challenge and kept up with them bucket for bucket.  Alonzo and Masoto speed proved to be too much with Nav adding fuel to the fire.  VJ gave it his all hitting incredible shots from everywhere and setting up his teammates proving why he is the top Point Guard in the league.  Spartans eventually prevailed but not without a fight from Bula.  Congratulations to Spartans for making it to the Semi Finals.

Spartans 67 Masoto H. 21 pt, 4 rb, 2 stl
Bula 60 VJ S. 21, 5 rb, 4 ast, 2 stl

Avengers vs ATR                                                                                          Part 2
ATR came into the game heavy favorites but the Avengers had a different idea how the game was going to turn out.  Chris for the Avengers got into the paint early to help the Avengers get out into the early lead.  Both teams are great defensively and it showed early on in the game.  ATR did their usual thing, bang-bang-bang on the boards and grind it out until their opponent gives up.  Allen and Christian for ATR kept the game close.  The Co-Mvp, William, struggled all day to score but Jon and Jun picked up the slack offensively.  Avengers despite having a size disadvantage used their speed and great teamwork to control the game early with Gino, Steven, Paolo, JR and Drew hitting the boards hard and scoring easy buckets.  By the second half ATR seized the moment to take the lead and never looked back with a double digit lead by the fourth quarter.  The Avengers got the lead down to six but with a few calls against them and key turnovers down the stretch, ATR found a way to win the ball game.  Congratulations to ATR for making it to the Semi Finals.

ATR 37 Jun G. 8 pt, 7 rb, 2 ast
Avengers 27 Chris M. 8 pt, 9 rb, 3 stl

Code Green vs Dragons                                                                              Part 3
The Dragons was missing their fearless leader Robert Chen and Code Green was missing Jason Rivera and Chris Silva which probably explained why it took nearly the second half for the game to pick up.  Code Green did their best to keep up with the Dragons.  AJ  and Justin E.  kept the game within reach in the first half.  Hervin and Daryll did most of the scoring for the Dragons until Joey decided to turn it on and went on a big run.  The Dragons controlled the boards and did what they were supposed to do to a lower seed.  Honorably Darell, Jeff and Jon Bon for Code Green had great games but not enough to impact the game.  Dragons won in exciting fashion... Congratulations to the Dragons for making it to the Semi Finals.

Dragons 56 Daryll C. 20 pt, 10 rb, 3 ast
Code Green 41 AJ A. 19 pt, 8 rb, 2 ast
